What God does when he’s jealous and angry

Deuteronomy 32:21-26 They have provoked Me to jealousy by what is not God;
They have moved Me to anger by their foolish idols.
But I will provoke them to jealousy by those who are not a nation;
I will move them to anger by a foolish nation.

For a fire is kindled in My anger,
And shall burn to the lowest hell;
It shall consume the earth with her increase,
And set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

‘I will heap disasters on them;
I will spend My arrows on them.

They shall be wasted with hunger,
Devoured by pestilence and bitter destruction;
I will also send against them the teeth of beasts,
With the poison of serpents of the dust.

The sword shall destroy outside;
There shall be terror within
For the young man and virgin,
The nursing child with the man of gray hairs.

I would have said, “I will dash them in pieces,
I will make the memory of them to cease from among men,”

  2. All of this is written in very familiar Hebraic poetry. It was pretty much fulfilled in the destruction of the temple in AD.70. Remember no Gentile was under this covenant that is being defined in this book. Therefore the curses were reserved for the those who broke the covenant. The new covenant was ushered in with Christ and made the old covenant obsolete (Hebrews 8:13). The only thing that remained after the blood of the new covenant was shed was the judgement of that covenant(Deuteronomy 28, Malachi 3:1ff). The judgement that remains for us can be found in Matthew 25 and has nothing to do with scorpion-horses and an anti-christ.
